National – Local Corporate Member Government and other Buying Organizations FAQs
The event will feature Corporations with buyers, sourcing managers and procurement experts participating in up-close One-on-One Matchmaker Sessions with NMSDC certified MBEs willing and ready to fulfill the needs of upcoming opportunities. Each session is 15 minutes. Each corporate member can schedule up to 7 potential pre-screened suppliers. Appointments are required.
Who can participate?
Your company must be either a National Corporate Member or Local Corporate Member to participate. Limited Matchmaking tables are available, on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must be pre-registered to attend the 2017 NMSDC Conference + Business Opportunity Exchange in Detroit, Michigan. Pre-registered is defined as Full Registration or a One Day Tuesday registrant.
What is the cost to participate?
- Exhibitor/Sponsor Complimentary (Tuesday Only)
- National or Local Corporate Member $1500 (per session)
There is no cost for sponsors and exhibitors, unless you wish to add an additional AM or PM session.
Online conference registration is also required.
What is the schedule for matchmaking appointments?
Matchmaking appointments are 15-minute meetings with 5 minutes each for transition on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. These appointments will be scheduled between 10:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.

When will I receive my appointment schedule?
NMSDC will provide schedules to the participating National and Local Corporate Members and the selected MBEs at least 2 weeks prior to the Conference. Please be aware that schedules can have changes up to the morning of the event.
How do I request a BizConnect table [As a BUYER]?
You may request a table by emailing BizConnect@NMSDC.org.
Each BizConnect table will seat four (4) – to accommodate two (2) National or Local Corporate BUYERS and two (2) MBE SELLERS.
NMSDC will invoice any required fees, based on your current status as either an exhibitor/sponsor or a National/Local Corporate Member. Applicable fees must be paid BEFORE a table assignment can be confirmed.
It is important that your representatives plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the Matchmaking appointments, and stay the entire scheduled time period of each event. This will provide an opportunity to make on-site additions and changes and to manage any cancellations or no-shows.
How do Corporate Members select the NMSDC-Certified MBEs?
NMSDC-Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) profiles will be shared with the participating National and Local Corporate Members. Based on those profiles, the participating National and Local Corporate members will select the NMSDC-Certified Corporate Plus® members or MBEs they would like to meet.
What information is required from participating National and Local Corporate Members?
Review and Complete BizConnect Profile and Select NMSDC-Certified MBEs – By Wednesday, 9/29/17.
Review and Approve Matchmaking Schedule – By Monday, 10/2/17.
How many meetings can I expect?
The number of meetings scheduled will be determined by your needs and the number of NMSDC-Certified MBEs you choose to meet with.
We encourage National and Local Corporate Members to engage all corporate representatives within your company who have needs, to use every one of your available appointments to meet with qualified NMSDC-Certified suppliers. You can meet different buyers throughout the scheduled time frames to accommodate your needs.

Are there any other requirements of Corporate Participants?
NMSDC can only provide the metrics and results. Corporate Members and MBEs need to assess the value of participation in these Matchmaker events and to improve outcomes in the future. Your immediate response to our request for feedback at the conclusion of your scheduled appointments is greatly appreciated. We will also follow up at later dates to learn of any outcomes from these connections. Your timely feedback is essential to NMSDC delivering the information you and your stakeholders ask for.
